Alpha Iota Chapter was organized on April 23, 1932 with members from three counties: Wharton, Matagorda, and Fort Bend. Calhoun County was also under Alpha Iota's jurisdiction, but the beginning date is not known. Members living in Calhoun County had to drive quite a distance to attend meetings in those three counties. In 1958, Eula Lee Carter asked Alpha Iota to release Calhoun County from their jurisdiction to form Epsilon Pi on April 4, 1959.
The first meeting of Epsilon Pi Chapter was held on April 4, 1959 at the Miramar Restaurant in Port Lavaca, Texas. The program was organization, initiation, and installation. The meeting was presided over by Miss Eula Lee Carter and Miss Phyllis Ellis. Our Local Founders, Adeline Daniel, Ada GraceHarrison, and Bobsie Ferguson assisted. The Epsilon Pi Charter was signed by the local founders and twenty initiated members.
